Most of the NFL football fans I know do not like the new kickoff format that was used last season. It certainly did not add any excitement to the game
I would like to propose something that will add excitement and will force the coaches to develop new strategies. For successful field goals 30 yards or less, a team gets 3 points, as is now the case. For field goals of 31 to 49 yards, the team would get 4 points, and for field goals of 50 yards or more, they would get 5 points. I can see where a team would take a loss on purpose to take a longer goal and get more points.
This is something the NFL should consider.
