The devil is coming for the cowards.

The cowardly lack of action from Russian Christian leaders regarding Putin’s ongoing destruction of Ukraine discredits anyone who claims to be a Christian.

The cowardly lack of action from American Christian leaders regarding President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s ongoing genocide in Gaza discredits anyone who claims to be a Christian.

Pastoral letters, prophetic statements and poetic condemnations amount to nothing more than spiritual masturbation. It feels good, but the seed falls on barren ground. It is long overdue for Christian leaders of all denominations to flood these hot spots with their physical presence and refuse to leave until all people are recognized as beloved children of God.

Jesuit activist priest Daniel Berrigan said that “Before you decide to follow Jesus, you better ask yourself if you will look good hanging on wood.” Actions speak louder than words. We need less Christian commentary and more courageous Christians willing to “walk the walk” up to Calvary. But I guess we’ll wait another four or five weeks to restart another round of totally useless peace discussions held by “religious” cowards and political opportunists.

I pray the devil doesn’t come knocking today for the sins that we have committed in the last six months.
