On March 20, tragedy struck on Guy Street in Jeannette. Five lives were lost and two homes were destroyed. An adult and two children were saved by a heroic neighbor and first responders. The first responders tried fiercely to enter the burning home, but the fire and smoke were too intense.

I want to thank all of the first responders, neighbors, 911 dispatchers, people who are raising money and providing aid — donations, food, prayers — to the victims’ families, and the many churches who opened their doors and offered spiritual guidance after this horrific tragedy.

I ask for prayers for the family who lost beloved family members as well as their home; the neighboring family who also lost their home due to the fire; first responders and their families; and all those who have donated in any way.

May God bless all of you. Our city always comes together in the time of need. I am so thankful that I can call Jeannette my home.
