Given the current economic times, with everything increasing in costs, let’s not forget that Pennsylvania offers a property tax/rent rebate program. It is open to all Pennsylvania homeowners and renters age 65 and over as well as all widows/widowers age 50 and over and to those disabled age 18 and over.

I’m not sure everyone is aware of this program, as I have not seen it highly advertised. It is funded by the proceeds of the Pennsylvania Lottery.

There are income limits, and rebates range between $250 and $650 depending on your income. Half of any Social Security income is excluded from calculating your income. You can fill out the application online at www.revenue.pa.gov/Incentives CreditsPrograms.
