Nancy Pelosi was on TV extolling the virtues of the Senate’s bill. She went on at length about how she and the Democrats changed the bill from a corporate bailout to one aiding American workers.

She didn’t mention they had delayed this bill for about a week trying to get in various environmental provisions that had nothing to do with the current crisis. She also didn’t mention the pork that was inserted, such as $25 million for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, $75 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, $88 million for the Peace Corps, $325 million for diplomatic programs, $350 million for migration and refugee assistance and $95 million for USAID operating expenses.

As former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel once said, never let a crisis go unused. I guess that real help for the people must take a backseat to party favors.
