Dear Mr. President,

I’m sure many Americans appreciate the fact your administration is putting forth great effort to fight violent crime in our cities. Not sure we are very comfortable with armed National Guard troops being on patrol, since it seems it is a vague assignment as to what specific crimes the troops are looking to stop/prevent.

How about you use the power of your office and Congress to do something to stop school shootings?

I will guarantee everybody that every voter in this country wants this to happen. Yes, we know that there are illegal immigrants in this country and some have committed other crimes besides entering the country illegally. There are thieves and rapists and murderers, and no amount of troops are going to stop all of those crimes. But when children are sent to school and don’t return home, it strikes the hearts of all Americans.

We need YOU and Congress to put forth a Manhattan Project effort to stop schools from being shot up. More focus on mental health, red flag laws and reining in the amount of semiautomatic guns being sold. Tell a parent who had a child killed or wounded at school that the Second Amendment, as it is being defined, is more critical than their kid. Focus on the truly awesome crime of school shootings rather than thumping your chest about the number of people you have deported.

Thank you.
