Christine Sarteschi’s op-ed “Ideas to prevent mass shootings” (April 23, TribLIVE) was insightful. There were positive suggestions made, and what caught my attention was the information about Aaron Stark, who in 1996 planned a mass school shooting in Denver because “he had nothing at all in life to look forward to.” Thankfully someone baked him a pie and and threw a gathering, and he felt enough love that his plan for killing people was thwarted.
I couldn’t help but notice that one very important suggestion was left out of Sarteschi’s commentary: the belief in a higher life after death, i.e., God. Had Stark thought about his eternal life after death, he might have changed his mind . Strange how people don’t think of the obvious, but it’s understandable when half of the people in the USA are void of common sense.
