Man getting haircut robbed at gunpoint in Brooklyn barbershop
The New York Police Department is looking for the suspect in an apparent robbery of a man who was getting his hair cut at a barbershop in Brooklyn.
The incident was caught on surveillance footage which appears to show the suspect pressing a pistol into the victim’s neck while he’s sitting in the barber chair and rummaging through his pockets.
According to New York ABC-affiliate TV news station WABC, police say the 30-year-old victim is a regular customer at Milton’s Barbershop in the Williamsburg neighborhood in New York’s most-populated borough. The robber made off with $350 in cash, credit cards and an iPhone XS. No injuries were reported.
Witnesses contend the perpetrator was really after the man’s watch, according to the station.
“Most likely, they saw him somewhere else with a special watch. Because the person asked for the watch. Right away, he said, ‘Give me the watch.’ That’s all he asked the customer the whole time, ‘Just give me the watch. Give me the watch,” Alex Rodriguez, a barber at Milton’s, told WABC.
Police do not agree with the barber’s conjecture.
They told the station the victim arrived at the barbershop win an expensive BMW, which may have prompted the robbery.
