Jacksonville, Fla., resident Alec Sprague wrote that in a Facebook post about witnessing an extremely generous and much needed act of kindness while visiting his local Costco store.
Sprague said that while he was headed to pick up a generator, he’d noticed an unnamed man purchasing more than 100 generators along with food to send to the Bahamas in attempt to aid the nation’s recovery from Hurricane Dorian.
“All I could do was shake his hand and thank him!” Sprague said in the post.
He added that the generators cost $450 apiece.
According to Jacksonville CBS-affiliate WKMG, his post was shared more than 17,000 times in three hours.
Sprague’s post suggested that the purchase was made through the “Errol Thurston Bahamas Hurricane Relief Fund.”
The Associated Press reported that Dorian “destroyed or severely damaged thousands of homes, crippled hospitals and trapped people in attics” after ravaging the island nation earlier this week.
At least 20 deaths were reported by Wednesday evening.
