Don’t let the rainy forecast dampen your weekend plans. There are plenty of fun things to do around the Pittsburgh area. Let’s take a look at just five highlights.

Night market

The Allentown Night Market is from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday along Warrington Avenue in Allentown.

There will be more than 100 unusual and unique artisans, sideshows and obscure musical acts as well as food and drink vendors.

The event was started in 2017 by The Weeping Glass curiosity shop in partnership with Hilltop Alliance.

There will be free shuttles from a parking lot at South 21st Street and Josephine Street in the South Side.

Look for a parade led by Colonel Eagleburger’s Highstepping Goodtime Band, which will be roaming throughout the market.

Nearby Bottlerocket Social Hall will be hosting an after-party with no cover charge.

Food drive

The East End Cooperative Ministry in East Liberty is hosting a drive-up food and money collection from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Organizers said there most likely will be the highest demand ever for services during the upcoming holiday season.

Volunteers will be collecting at Centre Avenue and Harvard Street. Items such as pasta, tuna fish, cereal, peanut butter, jelly and canned goods are needed.

For donors who can’t make it that day, online monetary donations are being accepted through the organization’s website.

HOWL-O-WEEN

The annual HOWL-O-WEEN at SouthSide Works Dog Park is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

This is the third year for the event. It is co-hosted by Camp Bow Wow and will take place in the property’s new dog park. Guests and their furry friends will enjoy special treats, a pet costume contest and Halloween-inspired games. Vendors range from rescue groups to pet specialty vendors.

Admission is free. Drinks are available for purchase at the dog park’s resident mobile taproom, Levity Brewing.

The Eagles

The Eagles’ “The Long Goodbye” tour is at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at PPG Paints Arena.

Original opener Steely Dan will not perform due to illness. Special guest will be Vince Gill with his band.

The Eagles last appeared in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena on March 26, 2022, and performed the entire “Hotel California” album.

According to setlist.fm, the group has played Pittsburgh 15 times since the band’s first performance here in 1972 at the Stanley Theater (now the Benedum Center).

Tickets start at $142.

Pumpkinfest

Pumpkinfest, a children’s harvest festival, returns to the North Side on Sunday (it was originally scheduled for Saturday but moved due to weather).

After a three-year hiatus for the pandemic, the fall festival will be back in Allegheny Commons East Park, at the corner of East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue, from 1 to 5 p.m.

There will be a petting zoo, games, educational activities, live music, food, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, pony rides, amusement rides, games, crafts and give-away items for children 12 and younger.

The event also serves as the neighborhood’s Health and Wellness Fair by Allegheny Health Network.
