The Pittsburgh Winter Avant-Garde Art and Craft Show is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Teamsters Local Union 249 in Lawrenceville.

Maybe you’re looking to get crafty. Maybe you’re looking for some holiday music with lasers. Or maybe you’re just looking for some Christmas cookies.

Whatever you’re looking for this weekend, Pittsburgh has some fun things planned.

Art and craft shows

The Pittsburgh Winter Avant-Garde Art and Craft Show is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Teamsters Local Union 249 in Lawrenceville. It features more than 50 local handmade makers and artisans selling everything from textiles to jewelry.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Girls on the Run, an organization that helps girls gain confidence and develop strength both physically and emotionally.

Admission is $3. Children under 12 are free; food and drink will be available for purchase.

East End Brewing and Alternate Histories are teaming up for the Crafts and Drafts show from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at East End Brewing Co. in Larimer. Vendors will be selling everything from artwork to clothing to bow ties. There will be music and beer and food available for purchase.

Admission is free.

Tran-Siberian Orchestra

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra performs at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena, Uptown. There will be light shows, lasers and special effects for the Ghosts of Christmas Eve tour.

Thanks4Giving

WAMO on-air host Brother Marlon is hosting Thanks4Giving, honoring WAMO gospel hosts from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Jeron X. Grayson Center in the Hill District.

The event is in commemoration of WAMO’s 75th Anniversary and Marlon’s 25th Anniversary in gospel radio.

It will honor Gloria Inez Brisky, Bishop Loran E. Mann, Apostle Otis L. Carswell, Joan Prentice, Nate Hollis and Vickie Hill. The event benefits the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day Campaign and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The evening includes live music, food, award presentations, and photos. It is free but registration is recommended.

Community Day

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is hosting its free Holiday Community Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Downtown. There will be entertainment, shopping, photo booths and a variety of hands-on family activities as well as entertainment by the Alumni Theater Company and the Flow Band and Kwanzaa dancers and drummers.

Christmas and Kwanzaa markets will be selling clothing, jewelry, arts, crafts and other gift items.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for photos.

Cookie drive-thru

The annual Caileigh Lynn McDowell Foundation cookie drive-thru is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Woodland Hills High School in Churchill.

The foundation was created to honor the life of 17-year-old Woodland Hills High School senior Caileigh McDowell, who tragically passed away in April 2016 from undiagnosed Crohn’s Disease.

Cookies from Oakmont Bakery will be for sale at $15 for 13 cookies and indoor photos with Santa Claus available for a $10 donation.

There will be a kindness pop-up shop. Proceeds benefit scholarships and programs for Woodland Hills High School students.
