Trump declares he will rid U.S. of AIDS and cure pediatric cancer 'very shortly'
President Donald Trump on Thursday said that he will put an end to two deadly diseases for Americans.
“The things we’re doing in our country today, there’s never been anything like it. We will be ending the AIDS epidemic shortly in America and curing childhood cancer very shortly,” he said during his rally in Cincinnati.
The statement earned a raucous ovation.

According to USA Today, the pediatric cure rate stands at around 80%.
Trump said in the State of the Union in February that he would set aside $500 million for research into pediatric cancer over 10 years, USA Today reported.
The president’s statement about AIDS is a double-down of sorts from a rally in Orlando last month.
“We will push onward with new medical frontiers. We will come up with the cures to many, many problems, to many, many diseases — including cancer and others and we’re getting closer all the time,” Trump said.
He also mentioned it during the State of the Union address where he said he would end HIV transmission by 2030, a task that is “doable but daunting,” according to Kaiser Health News.
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden claimed in June that he would cure cancer if he were elected president.
