Elon Musk will interview former President Donald Trump
Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X, is set to interview former President Donald Trump on Monday, the New York Times reported.
Trump posted about the upcomping conversation on his social media site Truth Social, saying that details would follow, the NYT said.
“ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow!” he wrote on his Truth Social platform Tuesday.
Though he used to be a skeptic, Musk, who is also the chief executive of Tesla, endorsed Trump’s presidential candidacy, the NYT reported — breaking away from the norm of neutrality displayed by social media platform leaders.
The endorsement by Musk came via X just minutes after the assassination attempt on Trump at his Butler County campaign rally on July 13.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” he said on X.
After the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, while the company was still known as Twitter and under previous ownership, Trump’s account was permanently suspended, the Times reported. But, under Musk’s ownership, the company reinstated him in November 2022.
Originally, Musk said he wouldn’t support either candidates’ campaigns in this year’s presidential election, USA Today reported.
“Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for U.S. President,” he wrote on March 6, according to USA Today.
Musk said he has voted for Democratic candidates — including President Joe Biden — in the three previous election cycles, USA Today said. As of late, the tech mogul has vocalized his frustration with Democrat policies.
