Tito’s Handmade Vodka was the top-selling liquor in Pennsylvania from March 2020 through March 2021.

This past year has been a really long decade.

At least it sure felt like it.

For some, nay many, a taste of alcohol provided some comfort. But what exactly has been the drink of choice for those in Pennsylvania over the past 12 months?

One thing’s for sure: Pennsylvanians sure love their Tito’s. According to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, not even a state shutdown could stop Tito’s from racking up over $81.3 million in sales in the past year at the state’s Fine Wine & Spirits stores. And that’s just the sales from the Top 10.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka — unflavored — ranked in three spots among the state’s top sellers; the only difference was in the size of the bottles sold. Tito’s 1.75 liter bottle sold the most, with the 750 milliliter and 1 liter bottles trailing.

Hennessy Cognac was the second best seller in the state bringing in $34.3 million, and Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum landed in the third slot with $18.35 million in sales.

Whiskey — or whisky — accounted for over $61 million in sales, with four of the top 10 spots — two from Jack Daniel’s and one each from Jameson and Crown Royal Apple.

Patron Tequila Silver made a respectable showing at No. 9.

When it comes to the top sellers in Allegheny County stores, the PLCB says the list doesn’t change that much.

Once again, Tito’s is king, with three slots in the top 10 generating over $12.5 million in sales. Whiskey is represented four times, generating $9.14 million. Cognac, tequila and rum also land spots.

Keep in mind that at the onset of the pandemic, Gov. Tom Wolf shut down state liquor stores for about a month in 2020, starting March 17. Sales went online on April 1, then to curbside service and finally back to reopened stores in May.
