State police seize $5.7 million worth of drugs in past 3 months

State police seized more than $5.7 million worth of illicit drugs during the second quarter of 2020, from April 1 to June 30.

Pennsylvania State Police seized more crack cocaine in the past three months than they did in the 12 months prior, according to data released Monday.

The 13.07 pounds of crack cocaine seized by state troopers from April 1 to June 30 far outweighs the 9.5 pounds picked up by troopers in the previous year.

All tolled, state police seized more than $5.7 million worth of drugs during that time, and crack cocaine made up just $209,120 of it. Processed marijuana — about 964 pounds of it — was worth just under $2.9 million, according to the release.

Along with the processed marijuana, police seized 175 plants worth about $28,900. Liquid THC — about 14 pints — along with 44 pounds of solid THC also were seized during the second quarter. Their combined worth was about $314,134.

Troopers said they also seized about 17 pounds of heroin worth about $578,680 and nearly 30 pounds of fentanyl worth $477,760. During the same time frame in 2019, they seized 84 pounds of heroin and 33 pounds of fentanyl.

Other amounts of drugs seized in the second quarter of 2020 include: 64 doses of LSD, a little under 1 pound of ecstasy and 18,774 pills.
