Six people were injured during the shooting and immediate aftermath at a Lancaster mall on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Lancaster city officers are still investigating the shooting that occurred at Park City Center mall around 2:30 p.m.

According to an update on Sunday evening, the shooting stemmed from a fight between several males, ages not provided, near the JC Penney’s in the mall.

One of them was armed with a handgun, and during the fight the gun was fired multiple times, police said.

Three males and one female were treated for gunshot injuries and two other females suffered injuries while trying to run away from the area, police said. None of the injuries were life-threatening, police said.

Investigators on Sunday night were still at the mall, which closed soon after the incident occurred. It is expected to reopen Monday. Officers were gathering video footage from surveillance cameras as well as videos recorded on personal phones.

Police were also still talking with witnesses and employees.

While several news outlets reported that multiple individuals were in custody, police have yet to confirm that.

Anyone with information on the shooting or what led to the original fight are asked to contact police at 717-735-3301.

The director of public relations and marketing for Brookfield Properties, the owner of the shopping mall, told Fox 43 in a statement, “We are saddened and angered by the unfortunate, isolated incident that happened in our shopping center today We are grateful for [the police’s] swift action to contain the situation. Our highest priority right now is the well being of our guests and tenants.”
