Pennsylvania reported 2,751 new covid-19 cases Tuesday, per the state Department of Health.

New coronavirus cases in the state represent the largest daily increase to date, according to the state.

The coronavirus death toll in Pennsylvania continued to grow as 23 new deaths were reported. All 23 deaths reported Tuesday are from October.

Totals for cases and deaths in the state now stand at 198,446 and 8,696, respectively.

In the state, there are currently 1,170 covid-19 patients hospitalized, with 110 on ventilators.

Tuesday’s new reported deaths bring October’s death total to 407, surpassing September’s total of 391 with a few days to go. After Tuesday’s figures, October became the sixth month since the covid-19 pandemic began with 400 or more deaths. March and September were the only months that had fewer deaths.

Cases continue to increase in Pennsylvania and have exceeded 2,000 new cases in four of the past seven days, bringing the seven-day total to 13,574 cases from Oct. 21-Oct. 27. Prior to that span, there had not been a run of new cases in the state like that since the covid-19 pandemic began in March.
