Pennsylvania sets another record for new covid-19 cases, nearly 6,000 cases reported

Pennsylvania reported 5,900 new covid-19 cases Tuesday, the new high for daily cases in the state.

With the new cases, the seven-day case total stands at 36,856 for the period of Nov. 11 through Tuesday. The seven-day case average is 5,265. Both figures are new records in Pennsylvania.

There were also 30 new coronavirus-related deaths reported Tuesday in the state. Of those deaths, 25 are from November, four are from October and one is from April.

Total cases and total deaths across Pennsylvania now stand at 275,513 and 9,355, respectively.

In the state, there are currently 2,737 covid-19 patients hospitalized. There are 579 patients in the ICU and 280 on ventilators.

Pennsylvania as a whole has seen a 31% increase in cases from Nov. 1 to Tuesday. Over the same 17-day start to October, the case increase was only 13%.
