Pennsylvania reports 587 new covid-19 cases, 15 new deaths

Pennsylvania reported 587 new covid-19 cases Thursday, according to the state Department of Health.

In addition, 15 new coronavirus-related deaths were reported. Of the state’s newly reported deaths, one is from April, five are from August and nine are from September.

The state’s case count rises to 141,877 and death total moves to 7,820.

Of the total deaths, 5,280 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

In the state, there are currently 488 covid-19 patients hospitalized, with 60 of them on ventilators.

The states estimates that 82% of covid-19 cases have recovered. A total of 2,474,523 PCR tests have been administered in Pennsylvania as of Thursday. To date, 1,639,349 patients tested negative.

New reported cases have been 900 or more four times this month, with the highest case count so far in September coming Sept. 3 when 1,160 cases were reported. The highest amount of new deaths reported, 21, came Sept. 3, and there have been two instances of 20 new deaths thus far in September.
