Pennsylvania on Sunday reported 2,251 new cases and 37 new deaths attributed to the coronavirus for the past two days.

The state Department of Health said a technical issue caused a delay in Saturday’s reporting and the need to report a two-day total Sunday. The state has generally stopped issuing Sunday reports.

The department reported the 2,251 cases bring the total number of cases to 163,535 since the state started tracking cases in March. The new cases were not broken out for each day.

The department stated that 187,883 tests were administered within the last seven days between Sept. 27 and Oct. 3 with 6,423 positive cases.

Allegheny County reported an increase of 204 cases with no deaths over two days on Sunday.

The state had 37 new deaths split between 20 deaths on Saturday and 17 on Sunday.

For the 20 deaths attributed to Saturday’s data, one is from October and 19 are from September. For the 17 in Sunday’s data, one is from April, 13 from September and three from October.

The total number of deaths now stands at 8,216 since the outbreak begun in the spring.

More than 2 million people in the state have been tested for the virus. The overall positivity rate is 7.8%.
