With 227 additional covid deaths reported Tuesday in the state, Pennsylvania has set a record.

The newly reported coronavirus-related deaths bring the seven-day death total to 1,534, a record for that statistic, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Of the newly reported deaths, 143 are from January, 82 are from December and two are from November.

Tuesday’s covid case count was 7,275 cases, marking an increase in cases from the previous day for the first time since Friday, the health department reported.

Total deaths and total cases in the state now stand at 18,080 and 733,429, respectively. In January thus far, there have 2,102 deaths and 93,104 cases reported.

As of Tuesday, there are 5,204 covid patients hospitalized in Pennsylvania, with 1,060 in an ICU and 639 on ventilators. According to the state covid-19 dashboard, there are 613 ICU and 2,931 medical/surgical beds available, which represent about 16% and 14% of those beds, respectively.

Philadelphia County reported the most new covid cases Tuesday with 848. Other counties with the most new cases were Allegheny (694), Bucks (409), Montgomery (381) and Berks (338).
