Pa. covid hospitalizations, case averages lowest since November

Pennsylvania on Friday reported an additional 2,778 covid-19 cases and 67 deaths, according to the state Department of Health.

A total of 908,773 cases and 23,480 deaths have been reported since covid cases were first reported in the state in March.

In February, there have been 50,163 cases and 1,819 deaths reported thus far.

Averages of covid cases continues to decline in Pennsylvania. The seven-day average of cases is now 2,931 cases per day and seven-day case count is 20,517, the lowest those figures have been since Nov. 7.

Current covid hospitalizations in the state dropped to 2,061 on Friday after starting month at 3,280. Friday’s number represents the least number of people hospitalized since Nov. 10, when there were 1,938 hospitalizations.

As of Friday, there have been 907,646 people who have received one dose of covid vaccine and 479,797 who have been fully vaccinated (received both doses), according to the state covid-19 vaccine dashboard.

In Western Pennsylvania, Allegheny County reported the most additional cases Friday with 257. Counties with most additional cases Friday were Beaver (59), Butler (47) and Westmoreland (45).
