Covid hospitalizations in Pa. have dropped for almost a week
The number of covid-19 patients hospitalized in Pennsylvania has decreased every day over the past six days, according to state Department of Health data.
There were 3,790 covid-19 patients hospitalized in the state on Tuesday, dropping by almost 100 from 3,887 on Monday. The biggest drop came Jan. 22, when the number of hospitalizations dropped by 589 from the previous day. Hospitalizations have generally decreased since the month’s peak of 5,684 on Jan. 5.
On Tuesday, there were 4,628 additional covid cases and 219 deaths reported. With the new figures, there are now 812,495 total cases and 20,883 total deaths in Pennsylvania. In January, there have been 172,170 cases and 4,905 deaths reported.
Of the deaths reported Tuesday, 209 are from January, nine are from December and one is from November.
The majority of covid cases reported Tuesday were confirmed, with 3,787 of the 4,628 cases confirmed.
Western Pennsylvania had only one county on Tuesday that eclipsed 100 newly reported cases, as Allegheny reported 282. Other counties with the most cases in the area were Washington (73), Butler (72) and Westmoreland (52).
