The Greater Latrobe Partners in Education Foundation will celebrate its seven years of supporting school district programs at the organization’s first annual Loyal & True Dinner.

Set for May 13 in The Conference Center at Saint Vincent College’s Fred Rogers Center, the 6 p.m. dinner will highlight the impact of the foundation’s grants on academic, arts and athletics programs at Greater Latrobe.

The nonprofit also will recognize the achievements of Greater Latrobe students and alumni.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a cocktail reception, followed by dinner entertainment provided by Greater Latrobe students.

Formed in 2012, the foundation has provided financial assistance for a number of initiatives at the district including updating technology in grades K-12, developing the athletic and wellness complex on the secondary school campus and renovating the main entrance and creating an art corridor at the junior high.

In September, the foundation presented the district with more than $150,000 in grants from its annual fund, including $12,000 for various teacher projects. The foundation also funded a new instrument trailer for the Wildcat marching band, iPads for elementary media centers and professional development training for junior high staff.

The foundation awards $26,000 in annual scholarships to graduating seniors and more than $10,000 in scholarships to senior high students taking dual enrollment courses through agreements with area institutions of higher learning. It has provided nearly $25,000 for cultural enrichment programming for students — including a visiting artist, assemblies and field trips.
