Editor’s note: The Shaler Journal is publishing candidate interviews for contested municipal and school board races only. Candidates must be on the ballot (no write-in candidates will be included).

Multiple races in the Shaler area are uncontested according to the Allegheny County Office of Elections unofficial candidate list.

Shaler Area School Board race has incumbent and current school board vice president Jim Tunstall, who is crossfiled, running unopposed in Region 1.

In Region 2, incumbents Eileen Phillips and Jason Machajewski, both crossfiled on the ballot, are running for two open seats.

Region 3 also sees two crossfiled candidates running for two open seats: incumbent James L. Fisher and newcomer Dorothy J. Petrancosta.

Millvale’s council race has four Democrats running for four four year seats: Paul D. Bossung Jr., Katie Dembowski, Denise Rudar and William G. Stout. Democrat Tyler Halt is running unopposed for a two-year seat.

All five candidates are currently on council.
