Five more Pittsburgh Public Schools will move to remote learning through the end of the week, bringing the number of schools to 14 that will be closed for in-person learning because of staffing shortages.

The district added Arsenal 6-8, Liberty PreK-5, Manchester PreK-8, South Hills 6-8 and Whittier PreK-5, saying staff was impacted by positive covid cases, exposure-related quarantines and other absences.

Already, nine buildings were closed for the remainder of the week for the same reasons: Allegheny PreK-5, Classical Academy 6-8, Langley PreK-8, Lincoln PreK-5, Montessori PreK-5, Perry High School, Phillips PreK-5, Morrow PreK-5 and Weil PreK-5.

For Wednesday only, students in six schools will learn remotely: Carrick High School, Greenfield PreK-8, Milliones 6-12, Obama 6-12, Science and Technology Academy 6-12 and Westinghouse 6-12.

Those schools are expected to reopen Thursday for in-person instruction.

Students will be able to access their work in Schoology and the class schedules will follow the regular bell schedule of each school. Grab and Go meal service will be available to students from 9 a.m. to noon in each school’s cafeteria.

A covid-19 dashboard on the district’s website showed the district had two confirmed covid cases over the past 14 days.
