A woman who dressed as a FedEx worker and stole packages from a home in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 8.

Laura Woester, 50, was arrested Monday by Pittsburgh police and faces charges of theft by unlawful taking. She was denied bail after being arraigned Monday night and is being held at Allegheny County Jail.

Woester is accused of taking two packages from a home along Beam Way on Nov. 4.

Surveillance footage showed a woman, identified as Woester, wearing a black mask under her chin and a black and purple FedEx shirt walking up to the porch, according to a criminal complaint.

Once Woester noticed the camera, she returned to her car for a different jacket before walking back to the porch to grab the packages.

The homeowner told police the items were worth $220.

FedEx provided a statement that denied Woester worked for the company.
