Firefighters removed the roof and windshield of thiscar to free an occupant following a thee-vehicle crash March 9 on Route 30 in North Huntingdon. The occupant was one of several motorists taken by ambulance from the scene, according to fire officials.

A North Versailles woman was arrested Monday by North Huntingdon police on multiple charges of DUI and aggravated assault by vehicle for causing a March 8 crash on Route 30 that sent seven people to the hospital, according to court documents.

Police allege the driver of a 2017 silver Chevrolet Equinox, Slobodanka Bulatovic, 45, failed to stop for a car that was turning from the eastbound lane onto Skellytown Road and pushed it into the path of a red Honda Pilot SUV that was westbound.

Seven occupants in the three vehicles involved in the crash, including Bulatovic, were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville for treatment after the 7:39 p.m. wreck, according to township officer Aaron Nutter. A passenger in a white Honda sedan involved in the crash, Kera Kerr, no address available, had to be extricated by area firefighters, Nutter said.

Nutter said Bulatovic consented to the blood draw at the hospital. He alleges in court documents that Bulatovic’s blood alcohol level was .174 percent, or more than twice the legal threshold for DUI in Pennsylvania.

After the crash, Nutter said in court documents that Bulatovic “appeared to be confused as to where she was and where she was driving to.”

Nutter also said that she had no recollection of the crash and smelled of alcohol.

In a later interview that evening, Nutter reported in court documents she told him she was a Lyft driver and was on her way to pick up a fare in North Huntingdon. Email inquiries to the Lyft press office were not immediately returned Monday afternoon.

“She denied drinking alcohol, but a partially consumed box of wine was located inside her vehicle,” Nutter wrote.

Nutter said that surveillance videos were retrieved from businesses along Route 30 that showed Bulatovic’s vehicle driving eastbound on Route 30 on the inside lane and passing a tow truck on the outside lane of the highway moments prior to the crash.

“(Bulatovic’s) vehicle speeds past the tow truck and into the rear end of a white Honda sedan (that had stopped to turn),” he wrote.

“It does not appear (Bulatovic) activated her brakes prior to impact,” Nutter wrote in court documents.

Witnesses also told police that Bulatovic failed to stop for the vehicle that was waiting to make a turn.

Neither Bulatovic or her private attorney, Bruce Blissman of East McKeesport could be reached for comment. She was released on recognizance bond pending a preliminary hearing April 18.
