The Westmoreland County Register of Wills will fully reopen to the public on Monday .
The courthouse office, which oversees the filing of wills and estates and issues marriage licenses, has restricted public access since early April and has been operating by appointment only in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“This is more in line with what other offices in the courthouse and the courts are doing at this time. We want to be able to support those needing to use our office,” Register of Wills Sherry Magretti Hamilton said Wednesday.
Office staff will continue to process mailed documents and a drop box for court filings positioned in the lobby of the courthouse’s main entrance will remain, Hamilton said.
The office will resume its extended hours July 14, remaining open until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays to process marriage license applications.
Hamilton’s office is among the last at the courthouse return to its full level of operations.
