Art

• A collection of paintings created by local artists to celebrate the 250th nniversary of Unity Cemetery and Chapel will be on display through Oct. 28 at the Latrobe Art Center, 819 Ligonier St. Admission is free. • Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a revival at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at the church, 554 Stanton St.

Fundraisers

• Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, Mt. Pleasant, will host a homemade Polish platter dinner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at the church, 353 Bridgeport Road, Mt. Pleasant Township. Cost: $12, dine in or takeout.

• Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor its 44th annual dollhouse and miniature show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Greensburg Masonic Center, 349 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Admission: $5; age 2 to 12, $2. Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary scholarship fund. Details: Nora Kemp, 724-832-1687.

• The Chains for Hope and Pour for Pink breast cancer fundraiser will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at Wicks and Wax Studio, 124 S. Main St., Greensburg. Sponsored by Preciosa Jewelry Company and the studio, there will be raffles, workshops to make candles and necklaces, food, music and vendors. Those who register for the workshops by Oct. 19 will receive a free goody bag. Registration: wicksandwaxstudios.com.

• Mt. Pleasant Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor a cash bash from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at the VFW Hall, 416 W. Main St. Cost: $20, includes food and refreshments. Tickets: stop in at the club. Proceeds will benefit local veterans.

• A holiday craft and vendor show will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. John the Evangelist Church hall, 306 St. John Drive, Latrobe. Free admission. Homemade haluski, pierogi, meatball sandwiches and other lunch items will be sold. The hall is wheelchair accessible.

• Greensburg-Catholic Schoolhouse and St. Emma Monastery, 1001 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, will sponsor lantern-lit walking tours of the monastery grounds from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25. Tours leave the main parking lot every 10 minutes. The theme will be Eucharistic revival with the saints old and new. Afterward there will be food, drinks, raffles, gifts and more. Cost: $10; students, $5; 12 to 5, $2; younger than 5, free. Proceeds will benefit the monastery. Tickets: tinyurl.com/y8cukez2.

• Kenny Ross Subaru, 11299 Lincoln Highway, North Huntingdon, will host a community pet adoption bash and pet supply collection from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at the dealership. Cross Your Paws Rescue will be on hand with adoptable pets and pet supplies and food will be collected to benefit the rescue. Community members are welcome to bring their dogs and cats dressed in costumes. There will be pet photos available for $5, local pet vendors, a food truck with hot dogs and giveaways.

• Derry First United Methodist Church, 311 N. Ligonier St., and Derry Presbyterian Church, 108 Presbyterian Way, will jointly host a craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at both churches. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Derry Presbyterian Church. The United Methodist Church will also sponsor a stuffed pork chop dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19. Menu: stuffed pork chop, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, applesauce, rolls, homemade dessert, and coffee, iced tea or water, $13. Dine in or takeout. Dinner reservations appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome. Dinner reservations: 724-694-8333, 9 a.m. to noon.

• Westmoreland Toys for Tots will sponsor a bingo fundraiser from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Greensburg Masonic Center, 349 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Cost: $25, includes lunch at 1 p.m. Tickets: 814-592-9487 or at the door.

Halloween events

• Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church, 4600 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, will host a free fall festival and trunk-or-treat from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the church parking lot. Costumes encouraged. There will be games, the Kona Ice Truck, a trunk-or-treat and pumpkin carving and decorating. Details: Catharine Weiss, 724-327-0061 or catharineweiss@comcast.net.

• Bella Terra Stables, 4913 Logans Ferry Road, Murrysville, will sponsor its fourth annual Halloween and Fall Festival Oct. 26 at the stables. Sessions will be 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m. There will be trick-or-treat with the equine therapy horses in costume, games, raffles, a pumpkin patch, food trucks and entertainment. Cost: $15; children age 3 to 17, $25; 2 and younger, free. Tickets: bellaterrastables.org/halloweenfestival.

• West Overton Village will have a free family friendly trick-or-treat from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at the village, 109 W. Overton Road, East Huntingdon. There will be candy, refreshments, photo opportunities, crafts and stories. Fall-themed cocktails will be available for adults in the distillery. Sessions will be at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. Reservations required for children who will participate in trick-or-treat. Children must be accompanied by an adult. History

• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will host a program about bigfoot and an update on recent cases with Stan Gordon from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at the center, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield.

• Murrysville Community Library will offer a free genealogy program “Researching with MyHeritage” with Donna Edwards-Jordan at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at the library, 4130 Sardis Road. Details: 724-327-1102.

Meetings

• The Westmoreland County/Laurel Highlands chapter of the American Field Service high school student exchange program will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the One Room Schoolhouse, on the grounds of AK Hutchinson Elementary School, 810 Welty St., Southwest Greensburg. Special Event

• The Westmoreland Bar Association/Foundation will sponsor a free Wills for Heroes clinic beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 29 by appointment at the Westmoreland Bar Association, 100 N. Maple Ave., Greensburg. Volunteer attorneys will provide in-person private consultations about wills, living wills, health care and powers of attorney to first responders, military veterans and their spouses.
