Westmoreland Fair gears up for 2022 — from rides to rabbit agility shows
With contest entry numbers back to pre-pandemic averages, the Westmoreland Fair will offer nine days of food, animals, amusement rides, grandstand arena events and more.
The fair will kick off at 4 p.m. Friday and conclude Aug. 27. Some attraction highlights include a square dance social, rabbit agility show, pork chop review, bottle rocket competition, demolition derbies and petting zoo.
Sarah Sphon, fair secretary, said they aren’t sure how many attendees to expect, as attendance is largely at the mercy of the weather. However, she said entry numbers are up compared to 2021 numbers and match pre-pandemic averages.
Attendees can look forward to many returning attractions this year and some new ones, including a Quad/UTV Pulls grandstand arena event at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Admission — which includes parking, rides, exhibits and judging exhibitions — is $7 per person each day. Early bird admission before 2 p.m. is $3 per person, but does not include rides.
A weekly pass, which also does not include rides, is $30.
Admission to grandstand arena events is not included in general admission.
Aside from service dogs, dogs are not allowed on the fairgrounds. Alcohol is also prohibited.
