Westmoreland County reports 64 additional covid-19 cases, 3 new deaths

Westmoreland County has 64 new covid-19 cases and three new coronavirus-related deaths, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Tuesday’s new reported cases and deaths bring the county’s totals to 3,614 and 74, respectively.

There are currently 38 covid-19 patients hospitalized in Westmoreland County, with five on ventilators.

With only 181 new tests conducted, Westmoreland’s positivity rate for Tuesday’s report was just over 35%. The county has been averaging around 400-500 tests per day in the past week. The last time daily tests dipped below 200 was Oct. 7, when 191 were reported.

The overall positivity rate for Westmoreland County has grown steadily since Sept. 1, when it was 4.63%. On Oct. 1, the overall positivity rate had increased to 5.06% and has now reached 6.89% on Tuesday.
