Westmoreland County sees highest 7-day total of new covid-19 cases

With Tuesday’s figures, Westmoreland County set new highs for the seven-day covid-19 case total and seven-day case average.

Cases from Nov. 11 to Tuesday are 1,128 and average new daily cases are 161 over that time.

There were 155 new covid-19 cases and two deaths reported Tuesday. Total cases and deaths since the pandemic began in March now stand at 6,421 and 138, respectively.

In the month of November, Westmoreland County has seen a 41% increase in new cases.

In the county, there are currently 60 covid-19 patients hospitalized. There are 13 patients in the ICU and six on ventilators.

Of the new cases reported Tuesday, 99 are confirmed and 55 are probable.

The percent of positive covid-19 test in Westmoreland County continues to increase. On Tuesday, the daily PCR positivity rate was 24.75%. The overall PCR positivity rate has now grown to 8.25%, continuing a steady increase. The rate was 4.76% at the beginning of October and has continued to increase.
