A rock along Kecksburg Road in Mt. Pleasant Township has been defaced with encouraging signs of support in the wake of the pandemic.

Westmoreland County has four new reported coronavirus cases, according to the state Department of Health.

There has been single-digit new covid-19 cases reported in the past three days in the county, which hasn’t happened since a three-day span June 18-20. Total cases now stand at 1,819.

Of the new cases, two are confirmed and two probable. Westmoreland County has 1,760 total confirmed cases and 59 total probable cases.

There are three covid-19 patients hospitalized, with two of them on ventilators.

No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Tuesday in Westmoreland County.

The death total remains at 49, where it has remained since Aug. 20. As the county’s death toll nears 50, it has taken significantly longer to reach that milestone than it did to reach 25 deaths, which happened on April 29. Westmoreland County reached 30 coronavirus-related deaths on May 8 and 40 deaths on July 16.
