Over the past eight days, the number of covid hospitalizations in Westmoreland County appear to have stabilized, according to data from the state Department of Health.

Current covid-19 hospitalizations in the county were 115 on Friday. Since Feb. 19, the number of hospitalizations has not surpassed its current level, dropping as low as 112 but never increasing to over 115. February had seen a general decline from the start of the month, dropping from 141 to 115.

Recent figures rival those of early December, before hospitalizations started to climb and peak at 184 on Jan. 8.

There were 98 additional cases (53 confirmed, 45 probable) reported Friday in Westmoreland County, the most cases reported in about a week.

One additional death was reported, as well.

Total cases in the county now stand at 26,648 and the death toll is now 670.

In February, 1,945 cases and 65 deaths have been reported.
