Covid cases averages in Westmoreland County are the lowest they have been this month — and the lowest overall since early November.

On Friday, the seven-day case average was 73 cases reported per day and the seven-day case count was 509 cases, the lowest for both figures since Nov. 7.

According to the state Department of Health data, 39,594 people have received at least one dose of a covid vaccine and 13,182 have been fully vaccinated for covid-19 as of Friday in Westmoreland County.

The number of covid-19 patients hospitalized in the county continued to decrease Friday, with 115 currently hospitalized, down from 141 at the beginning of February. That is the least amount of hospitalizations since 108 were hospitalized on Dec. 3.

An additional 45 covid-19 cases and three deaths were reported in the county Friday. The cases reported were the lowest in February thus far. This month, 1,474 cases and 55 deaths have been reported.

Total cases and total deaths in Westmoreland County are now 26,177 and 660, respectively.
