Westmoreland County had the most new covid-19 deaths since May reported Tuesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The four coronavirus-related deaths are the most since May 18, when a record six were reported.

The county also had 72 new covid-19 cases Tuesday, a case count that would have been a high in any month other than October since the covid-19 pandemic began in March. The high for October is 148 cases which came Oct. 15 and is a record amount for Westmoreland County.

Total covid-19 cases in the county are now 4,169 and total deaths increased to 88.

Currently, there are 44 covid-19 patients hospitalized in Westmoreland County, with five on ventilators.

In addition, Tuesday marked the 13th straight day that a new coronavirus-related death was reported, with that streak starting Oct. 15.

The positivity rate in the county continues to climb as October goes on. The overall positivity rate was 5.06% on Oct. 1 and grew to 6.34% by the middle of the month Oct. 15. As of Tuesday, the positivity rate stands at 7.55%.
