Troopers seize 59 pounds of marijuana during turnpike traffic stop in Westmoreland County
An Oklahoma man pulled over for drifting between eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Mt. Pleasant Township was later arrested by state troopers on drug trafficking charges.
Investigators said they found 59 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in his minivan.
Zhi Yu Lin, 43, of Muskogee, Okla., was ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $100,000 bond.
State police said Lin was pulled over at 3 p.m. Thursday in his 2020 Toyota Sienna. When questioned, troopers said Lin acted nervously and initially provided them with identification indicating that he lives in New York.
Troopers subsequently learned Lin resides in Oklahoma, according to court documents. They asked to search his van and discovered the 59 vacuum-sealed packages inside, Trooper Ryan Marmol said.
“Each vacuum-sealed package weighed about one pound, which is consistent with wholesale distribution,” Marmol said.
Lin was arraigned on felony charges of manufacturing, delivery and possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
