Police are seeking help to identify a man accused of passing several counterfeit $100 bills at two discount stores in Derry Township last month.

Trooper Steve Limani said the first incident occurred 6 p.m. May 18 at the Dollar General store in Millwood where a white male entered and purchased $350 worth of Visa gift cards and a birthday card using four counterfeit $100 bills.

Limani said approximately 10 minutes after he left that store, he drove to a second Dollar General store onRoute 217, near Bradenville, and passed three more counterfeit bills.

Investigators noted the man has a distinct sleeve tattoo on his right arm.

Since January, state police have reported a series of similar incidents with various suspects passing counterfeit $20 and $100 bills at multiple commercial locations along Route 22 in Murrysville and Salem in Westmoreland County, and the Blairsville area in Indiana County.

State police in Indiana reported earlier this week they were seeking information on a Black woman who passed three counterfeit $100 bills at a Dollar General store in White Township, just outside of Indiana Borough April 20.

Counterfeit bills have also been passed at multiple stores along Route 30 in Hempfield, police said.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect passing the counterfeit bills in Derry Township is asked to telephone state police at Kiski at 724-697-5780.
