Bikers, walkers and joggers can join in the Westmoreland Heritage Trail’s first Trail Towns Festival on June 1, which coincides with National Trail Day.

Start at one of the trail access points — Roberts Parcel, Braun/Carson Street or Saunders Station and travel to Trafford’s BY Park for music, food, ice cream and fun activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. From 4 to 8 p.m., travel any trailhead at Saltsburg, Sara Steele or Rangos/Athena and proceed to the Fireman’s Pavilion at Slickville for live music, food and beer.

Each community is scheduled to host local businesses supporting the event.

Registration is $10 per person. Children age 10 and younger participate for free. Raffle basket tickets can be purchased.

Register through the trail’s website. Those registered have a chance to win grand prizes that will be drawn at the WHT monthly board meeting.

Money raised by the event will go towards trail maintenance and growth.

Maps of the trailheads can be found at WestmorelandHeritageTrail.com.

Supporters also can follow trail events on Westmoreland Heritage Trail’s Facebook page.
