Sutersville woman accused of sexually assaulting teen
State police charged a Sutersville woman with sexually assaulting a teenage boy last year in Hempfield while he was finishing up the school year virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to court papers.
An arrest warrant was issued Monday for Ashley Elizabeth Sherry, 21.
State police said they were notified of a ChildLine report in May 2020 regarding the allegations. Sherry was supposed to be helping the boy with his remote schoolwork after state officials ordered schools to close in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
Police said the teen reported that Sherry gave him marijuana to smoke while they were watching a movie. On two other occasions, Sherry instructed the boy to touch her and she performed sex acts on him, according to court papers. The boy told investigators that Sherry asked him to not tell anyone.
She is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. She did not have an attorney listed in online court records and could not be reached.
Sherry does not have a criminal record in Pennsylvania, according to online court records.
