A Smithton man pleaded guilty Wednesday to punching a Westmoreland County Prison guard last fall.
Timothy D. Ingram, 18, was sentenced to about 4-1/2 months to 23 months on a simple assault charge. He was given credit for time served since his arrest on Feb. 15.
Authorities said Ingram threw his clothes into the face of a guard and punched the corrections officer on Oct. 7 while he was being booked into the jail on child endangerment charges. The guard had a cut lip and injured right hand.
Ingram was ordered to get outpatient mental health treatment. He pleaded guilty Wednesday to simple assault in the other case in which he was accused of hitting a 4-year-old with a belt, according to court papers.
