The home page for Murrysville-based company FlexScreen has a concise message: “The world’s first and only flexible window screen.”

It seems like such a simple concept, even company founder Joe Altieri couldn’t believe no one had done it.

And his execution of it was so effective that he had multiple “sharks” from ABC’s “Shark Tank” battling to make a deal with him in early 2020.

Ultimately, Altieri went with Lori “Queen of QVC” Greiner, and on Friday night, “Shark Tank” swam back to Westmoreland County to revisit Altieri and FlexScreen.

Since his success on the show, Altieri spent much of the early part of the pandemic finalizing his deal with Greiner. More recently, he added another partner, international manufacturer and retailer Saint-Gobain.

“Appearing on Shark Tank completely changed FlexScreen,” Altieri said. “Gaining Lori Greiner, such a reputable name in the world of business, as an ally has opened doors that otherwise would have been shut. Together, we’re creating something that has never been done in our industry before.”

Since launching the company in 2014, Altieri has grown the business to include five manufacturing sites in the U.S. and Canada, and FlexScreen products are available through large-scale retailers such as Home Depot.

“The minute I saw FlexScreen, I thought it was brilliant,” Greiner said. “It’s fast and easy to put in and out of your window — the perfect answer to all of people’s window screen woes. Joe had invented one of the best ‘better mousetraps’ that was going to change the industry forever.”
