A second Aldi location is headed to Hempfield.
The supermarket chain known for its low prices could move into the space that houses Staples near Sam’s Club and Buffalo Wild Wings.
In an email, J.R. Perry, Aldi’s divisional vice president, confirmed that Aldi will open a second location in the Greensburg area.
A Staples employee said the store will close March 10. The employee said Aldi plans to open there.
Aldi also operates another Hempfield location at 119 Triangle Drive.

Former Steak ’n Shake building will see new occupant
500 Greengate Center Circle
Three years after Hempfield’s Steak ’n Shake closed its doors in 2020, there are plans for its former building.
Hempfield Manager Aaron Siko said Schumacher Homes Design Studios plans to move from its existing space into the Steak ’n Shake building, which is currently under construction.
It will be a short move, as the custom home builder currently operates in a smaller space next door.
Smail Auto Group breaks ground on expansion
Across the street from Smail Honda
New Ford and Lincoln Smail dealerships are officially headed to Route 30.
On Wednesday, Smail broke ground on two new buildings that will be constructed on what was the company’s storage lot. The land is located between Sheetz and the former Peaches ’N Cream ice cream shop.
The new dealerships are part of Smail’s multiphase plan that also will see the company’s Kia dealership move into the current Ford and Lincoln store, located near Eastgate Shopping Center.
Menards construction still delayed
At the former site of Ramada by Wyndham Greensburg Hotel and Conference Center
Hempfield has yet to receive formal notice about the building of the township’s planned Menards in 2023, Siko said.
The Wisconsin-based home improvement company plans to build on the space that the Ramada hotel formerly occupied, but building was delayed because of the pandemic and issues finding workers and materials, officials said in 2021.
Menards did not respond to a request for comment.
