A Rostraver man is accused by police of raping a woman at a township apartment building.

Jerry F. Griest, 62, was jailed Friday on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and related offenses.

Township police said a woman reported being raped by Griest in her apartment in late August after he invited himself over to watch television, according to court papers. Griest admitted to the sexual assault and told police that the accuser said she didn’t want to engage in physical contact with him.

He was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $25,000 bail. An attorney was not listed in online court records. A June 2 preliminary hearing is set.
