A Hempfield man accused in a stabbing at his home early Wednesday fled from state police attempting to arrest him, prompting a brief lockdown at some Hempfield Area schools.
Dashon Miller, 21, was apprehended later in the morning on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats.
Troopers said they were called to Route 136 near Edna Road at 4:30 a.m. after a woman flagged down motorists. She reported to police that she had been stabbed in the leg and ankle by Miller at his nearby home and fled, according to court papers.
A blood trail led back to Miller’s home, police said.
Witnesses told authorities Miller was seen in the area wearing a blood-stained shirt before running away. Police said they didn’t find him at his house, but did notice blood in the living room and a bloody 8-inch kitchen knife, according to court papers.
He was arrested later in the morning during a police search. The lockdown was lifted around 10 a.m.
Miller was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $100,000 bail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for May 23.
