A Somerset County man is accused of using four laborers supplied by a Greensburg company for work at his home and failing to pay them.

Joseph William Battisto, 56, owes the workers $25,424, according to police. He was arrested Monday evening.

Authorities said Battisto in July contacted People Ready in Greensburg for help with four days of landscaping work a “high-end customer’s home” in eastern Somerset County, near Fairhope. A month later, when no payments had been made and the work was still ongoing, People Ready officials grew concerned.

Laborers said they were working at Battisto’s home, police reported in court records. He allegedly never made payments for the work to People Ready.

Battisto is charged with theft of services. He is being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $25,000 bail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A Feb. 14 preliminary hearing is set.
