Police: 3 dogs abandoned at Latrobe home after owners move out
Three dogs were rescued last week after apparently being abandoned in a Latrobe home that had been vacant for several weeks, according to police.
A neighbor who heard the animals barking inside reported the situation to police Wednesday. Sgt. Joe Angus said officers found feces and urine throughout the Loyalhanna Avenue house that was occupied only by the dogs.
“The house — everything was out of it,” he said. “The dogs hadn’t been checked on.”
The trio did have food. Police said there was five dogs that had been living there, but one of the owners could only take two of the animals to a new home.
Officials from All But Furgotten and Guardian Angels Pug Rescue responded to help officers.
“Any time we call these ladies … they come right out,” Angus said. “They’re invaluable to us to help these little animals.”
The investigation is continuing and the owners could face criminal charges.
In “before” photos posted to the department’s Facebook page, the dogs appeared to be in need of grooming. “After” photos showed them wearing sweaters.
