What’s the latest in spring fashions?

About 100 guests got ideas for updating their warm-weather wardrobes during the Westmoreland Walks Passionately Pink Fashion Show, a Saturday lunchtime event in the new Westmoreland County Community College Event Center in Hempfield.

From togs for trendy tots, to weekend golf wear, to gowns for the bride and her mother, it was all there on the runway.

Models sported looks from MB Bride and The Trendy Bunny Studio, both in Greensburg; Betsy’s of Ligonier, Onyx & Ivory Boutique and Post and Rail Men’s Shop, all in Ligonier; and Jazzy Boutique in Belle Vernon.

Westmoreland Walks President and event co-chair Kathy Brown noted that it was the organization’s third fashion show, the last one held in the pre-pandemic year of 2019. It also had the most attendees.

Founded in 2002 by a small group of local women whose lives had been touched in some way by breast cancer, Westmoreland Walks works to raise awareness of breast cancer throughout Westmoreland County, fund Pennsylvania breast cancer research and provide direct support to local breast cancer patients, survivors and their families.

The grassroots group has donated $738,000 to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and $58,000 in scholarships to county students whose lives have been touched by the disease.

Its major fundraisers include a fall Pink Ribbon Walk at Twin Lakes Park near Greensburg. It also hosts a Spa Serenity Day of inspiration, education and pampering for breast cancer survivors.

Prior to the show, guests — many sporting outfits in the signature hue — enjoyed a meal of pasta and vegetable salad, chicken salad croissant and berry-topped pound cake, for which WCCC events director Keri Bailey and her staff received a round of applause. They also tried their luck with a silent auction and raffles.
