Out & About: The Westmoreland’s Art on Tap 2.0 showcases local flavors

For Jen and Scott Orris of Hempfield, the Jan. 13 Art on Tap 2.0 at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art was more than just a relaxing end to the work week.
The evening kicked off Jen’s 50th birthday celebration, which also included a private party the following night at The Headkeeper Tapas Bar in Greensburg.
It was the couple’s second visit to the museum’s monthly happy hour, but “it’s been too long,” Jen said.
They joined dozens of others who gathered for appetizers and drinks, live music, socializing and an art scavenger hunt in the Greensburg museum.
“Taste of Westmoreland” was the theme for the 21-and-older event, which showcased local food and beverage purveyors including Bella Terra Vineyards, Salem Spirits Moonshine, Caffé Barista and McFeely’s Gourmet Chocolate.
It also paid homage to a Westmoreland County favorite son, with the bar offering customizable cocktail versions of the Arnold Palmer, the iced tea-and-lemonade combo preferred by the late golfing legend.
Committee for the Westmoreland member Pat Parsons gave visitors instructions for the scavenger hunt, in which players found details from eight works in the galleries and identified their titles and creators.
Nearby, fellow committee member Kathy Longacre sold tickets for an oversized wine-and-olive oil gift basket.
Guitarist James Gerald provided music for guests gathered in the community room, while Detention, the acoustic duo of Mandy O’Leary and Jane DeBone, entertained in the upstairs paneled rooms.
